Vipp Pencil Case
Experiential shop hotels are all the rage. Vipp Hotel—a hospitality outgrowth of the Danish furniture and lighting brand Vipp—has been creating standalone destination rooms where you can road test their products and buy them online. Adam Bray
Before he was an award-winning designer, Bray was an antiques dealer with the most catholic of tastes. He’s drawn to the singular and quirky, as well as to an international breadth of furniture and handicrafts. Bray’s newish shop in Camden “endeavour[s] to be open on Fridays and Saturdays between 11 and 3,” says the website. The Fornasetti shop has occupied this busy corner for a long time. But just before the pandemic, it opened a bespoke, by-appointment-only showroom offering personalized design services to clients, helping them create Fornasetti-inspired interiors for everything from primary residences to vacation homes to yachts. Lodes
This family-owned company has made lighting in Venice for over 70 years. The youngest generation radically revamped it by going full-on contemporary, working with renowned designers from around the world. The latest collections, by the likes of Patrick Nourget, Snøhetta, and Vittorio Massimo, debuted within another debut: the first Lodes retail storefront in the world, which opened its doors during Milan Design Week in June. You know your tastes are elevated when you shop where famous designers shop. That would be this gallery, which is the brainchild of Darin Geise, who established its San Francisco counterpart in 2004. The Gilded Owl
Multidisciplinary designer Andy Goldsborough and art advisor Elizabeth Moore opened this gallery in Hudson, New York, in 2014 as an outgrowth of Goldsborough’s popular blog. After experimenting with a West Coast pop-up, Goldsborough brought his “cool, downtown, East Village sensibility” to the City of Angels.
